Zuko is shy toward people at first — he sizes you up before he decides. That's exactly what makes him so loyal: once you're his, you're his, and there's no undoing it. Give him three days and he'll be sleeping against your bedroom door. Why he looks the way he does 🐾 Zuko's coat isn't just pretty. It's three genes working together, and each one had to show up for him to look like this. First, the red: red (chocolate) is recessive — a puppy only gets it when both parents carry it, which is why true red Aussies are the less common base color. Second, the merle: the gene that swirls his red into that marbled, one-of-a-kind pattern. No two merles are ever alike — Zuko's coat is literally a fingerprint, and nobody else will ever have his exact markings. Third, the copper points: a separate gene adds that warm copper trim on his legs, cheeks, and muzzle, framing the whole picture. And the ice-blue eyes? That's the merle gene at work again — it lightens eye pigment, which is why merles are famous for those glacier eyes. Red + merle + copper, all in one pup. Each of those is a coin flip. Zuko won all three.
